Overview: Wonderful short kid friendly hike leading through a small canyon bottom with towering skyscraper rocks. Great photo opportunities! Trail Head: Take 1-70 to the HWY 191/Moab Exit. Take 191 south until you get to the Arches National Park turn off (approximately 25 miles). From the turn off, travel just under 3 miles to the Park Avenue parking area. This is the first main hike you can take from the Visitors Center. Detailed Description: The trail itself is pretty moderate and great for most kids. The trail follows a wash through a small canyon with tall rock faces on each side. The fins of the rocks on the east side resemble tall sky scrapers along a cityscape such as New York. The start of the trail does descend rapidly compared to the rest of the trail but there after it will be smooth sailing. The trail will continue to the North and end at Courthouse Towers. There are side trails that lead through the two side canyons, but unless you have written permission from the ranger station, please stay on the trail. There will be little surprises on this short hike and is a great warm up for the rest of Arches. Additional information: If you have a shuttle driver, you can begin at one point and be picked up at the other. For round-trip hiking, retrace your steps along the trail rather than walk along the park road. Maps:
